Seahorses Romp in the Meadow

romper // sandals {similar}
Today, Amélia’s taking over the blog with a little fashion post of her own…
I posted our camping trip yesterday and while we were in the meadow, I couldn’t resist taking some shots of her in this summer romper. Of course, as little kids do she got a bit dirty, so don’t mind the dirty butt! The greatest things about Target clothes are their prices and their ability to come clean with a bit of stain sticking!
The beauty of the meadow and her little face in her daddy’s favorite spot since he was a child melted my heart. I’m so fortunate!
In the wake of two recent deaths in my family, it’s these moments and memories that solidify what life is all about.
I hope you are having a lovely start to your week!

Summer to Fall Mix Up

Hey guys, it’s a late post, and I know I haven’t posted much lately, but thank you for sticking with me. It’s been a bit busy ’round here. Thank you for all the kind emails about my grandmother. I took some much needed time to spend with my mom and my family, and am in the process of creating Amélia’s big girl room. We even missed a vacation we were supposed to take to northern California. As much as we were looking forward to it, I’m glad I spent the time with my mom. We ended up at the lake house in Havasu and I’ll post some fun photos from our time spent there later this week.
Today, I’m dreaming of fall! After hot, hot weather in Havasu, a 16 hour power outage, and some last ditch summer tanning efforts and soaking up the sun, I’m so ready for cooler weather. The one day we experienced some drop in temps, I pretended fall was on the horizon and mixed up some summer pieces with fall attire. I’m itching to break out the sweaters and live in all my jeans, like these boyfriends! And this jacket is one of my closet staples I’m excited to pair with more fall outfits.
Hope y’all have had a great week, happy Friday!
Saturday’s are for hair tutorials, so head on over to my youtube channel tomorrow for some hair inspo. And be sure to subscribe as not all videos will be posted to the blog.

Workin’ It

top {splurge, save} // paige denim // angl clothing cuff {loving this} // earrings {ancient, love these} // forever wedges // tote via target {similar}

I feel so lucky to do what I do! I love styling and though I would say that most of my week is made up of being a stay-at-home mom, I so love the days I get to work shopping and styling beautiful people!
Last week, I spent one of my days client shopping, and the other doing a little outfit planning at one of my favorite new boutiques, Shop by John Michael Villa. There’s big things in the works, and I can’t wait to share with you!
In the meantime, I wore this outfit to his shop Thursday to browse the collection, pick up a few pieces and plan our next big collaboration! Stay tuned…

Love All Trust a Few Do Wrong To None…

Well, the graphic tee and I are inseparable… You can say so much without even having to open your mouth, and I have to say this statement tee is my absolute fave. William Shakespeare… so much insight!
I got a girl’s night out last week with a dear friend who is moving {insert super sad face} and this has to be one of my favorite casual looks…

Also! I posted about a recipe on Instagram/Twitter last week and got a bunch of emails asking for it… It’s not really my recipe, I got it off Pinterest, but here it is for those of you who asked:

note: I used a pale ale I had on hand and I cooked via the oven method. It was delish! Even threw leftovers in an omelet the next morning…
Ingredients
  • 2 cloves garlic, grated with a microplane (or minced)
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup porter or stout beer
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • ½ tsp Dijon mustard
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • 1 tbs olive oil
  • ¼ cup chopped shallots (about 1 medium shallot)
  • 6 boneless skinless chicken thigh fillets, cut into cubes
  • oil for the grill
  • Chopped cilantro for garnish (optional)
Directions
  • In a small bowl whisk together the garlic, honey, porter, red pepper flakes, mustard, soy sauce and pepper. Add the chicken cubes, refrigerate for 1 hour and up to overnight.
  • Remove the chicken from marinade (reserve the marinade) thread the chicken through wooden skewers.
  • In a pot over medium high heat, add the olive oil and shallots. Sautee until shallots have softened, about 5 minutes. Add marinade and boil, stirring frequently, until reduced and thickened, about 8 minutes.
  • Grill directions:
  • Preheat grill to medium high.
  • Brush the grill lightly with oil.
  • Brush the chicken with the glaze, place on the grill. Brush with glaze and turn every 2-4 minutes until cooked through, about 10 minutes.
  • Sprinkle with chopped cilantro prior to serving.
  • Oven directions:
  • Preheat the oven to 400. Place chicken on a baking sheet covered with aluminum foil. Brush liberally with glaze. Roast at 400 for 30-40 minutes, brushing with glaze every 8-10 minutes until cooked through.
  • Sprinkle with chopped cilantro prior to serving.

Wednesday Wish List: Shopbop Sale

Hey lovelies! I’m getting over the hump today with a little Wednesday Wish List and Shopbop’s sale. It helps, too, that I’m super excited for another trip I’m privileged to take to NYC next week {more on that later}. Obviously, it’s one of my favorite shopping meccas of the world! Today’s list, though, has a lot of great stuff that’s easy to pack for a quick getaway. I’m seriously wishing I could have #7 in time to leave since we’ll be spending quite a bit of time in Brooklyn :/
Oh yeah, did I mention the bug isn’t coming… I’m excited to shop till I drop {because lord knows I can’t do that with a tag-a-long toddler}, but I’m also nervous {because I’ve never left her for longer than a few days} AND I know I’ll miss the heck out of her. But I’ve been spending my days soaking up time well spent together and I am ready for a little get-away and me time. Happy hump day!

Mellow Yellow

Oh hey crazy weather, what’s up with rain one day and then 94º the next week?! You’re really making me want to layout by the pool and splash all day with my bug, but for now I’m keeping my cool in whites {which really I’ve been wearing since winter} and staying mellow with some pops of yellow!
I added some gold and this fabulous Aldo clutch to warm up the neutrals. Isn’t it perfection?

Ps… I’ve been getting lots of questions about the secret to goodness and compliments on how great my hair is. Yes, I’m still loving Suave Professionals and it’s my new go-to beauty secret!
