Wow Factor – Bomber Love

jacket // tee // distressed ankle denim // heels {sold out, but LOVE these and similar here} // similar clutch // necklaces here and here
Some days call for a simple jeans and tee look, but I’m never one to be ordinary, so this bomber paired with a hint of snakeskin adds interest and makes the outfit perfect fall transitional style.
This is truly my every day casual style… with the exception of sky high heels! Those aren’t always conducive to running after a 4 year old or chasing down styles in a showroom or client shop, but I can’t resist their awesomeness for a dinner with the fam or girl’s night.

ps… hey my lovely IT gals, if you’re receiving Haven Street’s StyleIT Insider newsletter, you should’ve received an update about this fall’s StyleME challenge with EARLY ACCESS! This season’s StyleME session will open to everyone on the 15th, but if you’re an IT gal, you’ll get a bonus… so become an IT gal today!

Style Note: When putting together a casual look, you can still look chic. This look focuses on wardrobe basic essentials. When looking for basics, there’s two keys: fit and the ‘wow’ factor. Everything has to fit well to look good. Even if the awesome factor is hallelujah amazing, if it doesn’t fit well, it won’t look good. Period. The awesome factor is really a matter of personal choice. If it’s visually appealing to you, fits in with your style goals, and you feel just, well, awesome in it, then you’ve got your ‘wow’ factor. It should be a confidence booster and something true to your sense of style.

Oh, Hey!

Oh, hey! Does it seem like it’s been a while? I’ve been a little MIA on the blogfront lately between styling projects, travel, and well, just life.
I’ve said it before that I won’t inundate with posts, but gosh, I feel like such a slacker!

With all the travel, my style’s been about finding comfy yet chic clothing that dresses up or down easily… of course, it’s awesome for mom life, too. 😉 {And this lil photobomber is the norm these days}.

This outfit is a great example of staying chic on hot summer days, but transitions well for a relaxed sushi dinner date.

I hope you’ve all been having a super summer and as always, I appreciate you sticking around!

Style Note: Cargos don’t just have to be a casual piece, you can dress them up with one simple accessory: a heel. Transform cargos into chic, dressed up style with a summer heeled sandal. I’ve linked a few below…

When the Days are Cold

sweatshirt {ON SALE!} // denim {ON SALE!} // chuck taylors // scarf c/o {ON SALE!} // watch
When you find pieces you just love, what do you do? Wear. Them. Out!!
We don’t get many ‘cold’ days in the inland of sunny so. Cal {of course as I say that, we’ve had a few chilly days}, but when we do, I grab my most cozy pieces and wear them on repeat.
I’ve preached before about mixing and matching great pieces to extend your closet, and I definitely practice what I preach! Yes, I do shop A LOT and wear things once… maybe twice, but I also hold on to fabulous pieces when I find them and create new looks by interchanging them with different pieces in my wardrobe. And when I need quick, perfect style for running errands or chauffeuring my 3 and 1/2 year old to activities? They’re great go-to’s.
You’ve seen both the leo sweatshirt {here and here} and double-sided scarf {here and here} a few times… promise this is it ;P.

Style Note: Casual chic… or looking put together without being overdone just means following a few easy steps:
1. begin with basics- a great pair of skinny jeans {or boyfriends or even leggings} and a fitted tee or sweater
2. grab a strategic add-on- top off basics with layers {scarf, vest, blazer}
3. choose your shoes wisely- a well chosen pair of shoes completes the statement. What’s your statement? Relaxed? Go for sneakers messily laced or a slip on. Opting for polished? Grab a heel or ankle bootie
This is definitely easy and polished for the mom on the go.
How do you do casual chic?

Weekend Casual Vibes

sweatshirt: H&M {similar} // pants: Old Navy // tennies: Nike // bag: Asos // similar sunnies // watch: Rumba // lip in i rose you
After the holidays, some travel, and a little down time, it’s back to reality. But we had a great weekend exploring Seattle, and a Sunday afternoon back home with family.
I wanted to take a moment to thank all my followers and clients for all of your support. AND because it’s a new year, and I’m so grateful for all of you, I’m offering my styling services at new special rates!
It’s pretty common to conduct style appointments in person, but I’ve been working on a progressive approach through the wonders of Skype, email, and dropbox and am offering all my ‘in person’ services through e-styling appointments… which save you even more $$$!
My calendar is booking up quickly, so be sure to email me to get started.
Style Note: Florals and pastels aren’t just for spring! Add a little softness to the harsh winter days with lighter tones on basic neutrals, add a soft pink lip, and throw on a sneaker to keep your look casually cool.

Fabulous Floral

h&m floral tank // paige denim // bracelets here & here // watch // similar necklace // similar dolce vita sandals
Amélia’s outfit:
I found this tank while shopping for a garden party and though I’m not super into florals, it just paired so well with my eShakti skirt {thanks eShakti!} and obviously screamed ‘garden party!’
As one of my rules, I always try to imagine at least 2 ways to wear a purchase, but this was one of those pieces I thought if I only wore it once I was completely OK with that… Turns out I love it for hot ‘n steamy summer days with sandals for a fabulous floral casual look.
My messy, bed-head, beautiful girl really wanted to be in the photo with momma… how could you say no to that face?

The Perfect T-shirt Dress

Shop by JVM t-shirt dress c/o // sandals {splurge, save} // h&m statement necklace // earrings from a Soho boutique {similar} // bag {similar}

Ladies! If you’re in the area, you must go check out Shop by John Michael Villa. John is such a pleasure to be around and has some of the most gorgeous vintage, as well as, modern pieces. And, I love that he refers to all of them as ‘she!’ You can also shop select styles online.
As if being in John’s presence doesn’t put a smile on your face the moment you walk into his shop, you’re sure to find something fabulously fashionable… every. time. you. walk. in. Like this dress! Kind of like being in pjs, this t-shirt dress is the perfect combo of comfy + casual + chic, and was perfect for celebrating my mother-in-law’s birthday Saturday.

After a busy week, throwing on this t-shirt dress was a little piece of heaven, like John’s Shop! And I’m super excited because there are many collabs in the works with Shop that I can’t wait to share. This is just the first!
On a side note: I’m trying out extensions. This was a few times into wearing them and so far, I have nothing but positives. I’m loving the thickness they give my super fine hair, especially when doing all my braids. I only wish I’d decided to try extensions sooner, even when my hair was long. I have to credit The Barefoot Blonde for this braid inspo. I saw it on her instagram and fell in love, so as soon as she posted a tutorial and I had my extensions, I knew I had to try it. Go check her out, she is stunning and her tutorials are awesome, even Amélia loves to watch and let me try ’em out on her!

Garden Party

I hope all you lovelies had a fantastic long weekend. Mine was pretty eventful, and Saturday, I was able to finally break out this gorgeous skirt from eShakti. Have heard of them? They are only kind of amazing!
I fell in love with this skirt the moment I saw it. Y’all know I’m notorious for grabbing up pieces that I can imagine wearing at least 3 ways, and I’m telling you, don’t be surprised if you see this one on repeat in the very near future!
Anyhow, their whole idea is clothing for ‘real women,’ so they offer customization based on a woman’s individual measurements. They have a rather great range of sizes from 0 to 36. Though, I didn’t actually do any customizing myself, if you find you prefer a ‘truer’ fit for a particular size, shape, or you require a more modest skirt length, or a shorter one, you can customize any piece for that perfect fit.
I received so many compliments while wearing this skirt. Ooh, I almost forgot to mention the best part… it has pockets! I lalalove skirts and dresses with pockets and I think all dresses/skirts should have ’em. I found that most of eShakti skirts and dresses had them! Plus, I know, there’s more? The material is light weight enough for comfort on warm days, yet the fabric is thick enough that it doesn’t require a slip. I am definitely not a slip and hose kind of girl, so this was fabulous.
Go see for yourself! I promise you’ll find a style you love for whatever the occasion.

h&m tank // eshakti poplin skirt  c/o // aldo clutch // wedges {similar} // j. crew bangles // f21 bangle set // earrings {similar} // fossil watch {splurge, save} // mac lips in desire
