The Perfect Summer Dress, Styled

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6

This dress combines everything trendy and is perfect for summer. I love the subtle side cutouts, the tropical print, and the flow created by the side slits. Spring was all about floral prints, and summer has been sporting a lot of fruit, so this tropical print plays with great trends by changing it up slightly while keeping it flirty and fun. Crop tops have been all the rage and for the daring, is a little more subtle. If you’re not so bold, the subtle cutouts give it a bit of edge without showing off too much. Add a great kimono to give you a little more coverage with just a bit of peek-a-boo to add mystery!

Day to Night Look…

…with one dress. I shopped for this particular dress back in November for my Banana Republic collab. Of course, it was a total no brainer for me because of the leopard, and you know me, always picking pieces I can wear again {everything in this post is a repeat}! I love it for an event or if you work in an office, meet clients, etc… It’s fashion forward, yet work appropriate for
DAY…
or styled with a Beatles tee and army jacket, it’s rocker chic for
NIGHT…
banana republic factory dtore dress {similar} // F21 beatle tank // american eagle army jacket {similar} // buckle heels // angl clothing cuff {not online, love this} // tassel necklace {similar}

Chambray and Denim for Sunday Brunch

Last week, the hubs was in San Diego for work while I single mom’d it at home. No biggie… until the toddler nearly broke my camera as I was uploading pics for Friday’s blog post :(. Not that my camera was the best (I’ve got one on my Christmas wish list) it’s rather difficult to maintain a fashion blog without one! So I jumped at the chance when the hubs offered a last minute trip to stay at the Hotel Del Coronado… and unwind all by myself.
Since he had to work Saturday, the whole day was a ‘me’ day. I spent most of it at the pool, did a little bit of shopping, and even snuck in a 4 mile run before a gorgeous sunset that was capped off with a bloody mary. I had a late, light dinner ocean side at a gorgeous bar before the hubs headed over after a long work week.
Sunday morning we slept in until just after 8 and enjoyed coffee in bed in our stunning room. The highlight of the weekend was the most-talked about brunch we’d be experiencing Sunday morning. Because we were driving home that afternoon for a BBQ/birthday party, I wanted a look that would transition from one event to the other. This gorgeous high-low, drapey chambray tank was perfect paired with jeans for a casual look, but I took it up a notch by accessorizing for a bit of glamour.

hi-lo top: CAbi // jeans: Paige // heels: Zara // bracelets: Macy’s, J.Crew // necklace: Brinabox // lips: YSL le Orange // nails: Vixen by Revlon
It was an amazing weekend, and the most relaxed I can remember being since having Amélia. No schedules, no rushing; time devoted to doing whatever I wanted whenever I felt like it. Sometimes you just need those days. Though I wouldn’t change it for the world, mom life makes it rather difficult to unwind without a care in the world, so this kind of luxury is cherished.

Hope y’all had a wonderful long, relaxing, fashionable weekend!

Thanks for stopping by!

Bright Florals

dress: old (save, splurge) // sandals // glasses: Marc Jacobs // bracelets // necklace: Brina Box // lips: Dior

I wore this gorgeous floral dress last weekend along with my brand new Brina Box necklace that I absolutely adore.

Though my heart’s set on fall as August draws on, temps here in so. Cal are still pretty treacherous; were talkin’ nearly 90 degrees at 5 p.m. A birthday party in the park with those kinds of temperatures meant I had to think up something cute AND cool. You can’t go wrong with bright florals!

Amélia looked adorable in her pretty dress… before she insisted on changing 3 times!
