Hello Monday… It’s another busy week for us, and still some sadness here. I lost my grandmother last Friday and though she’d been preparing for death for 10 days and we know she’s in a better place, it’s been very emotional. Not to mention explaining to a 3 year old, even after having gone through this last year with the hubs grandfather. We had a lot of much-needed family time over the weekend and are preparing for her services this week amid regular activities.
One of our daily routines these past few weeks is A’s swimming. It’s been pretty hot and seems my wardrobe as of late has been all cutoffs and tees. I decided last week to play a bit with pastels and gave my basic swim-mom uniform some intrigue and detail.

It’s been pretty humid here in so Cal that all I can really stand to put on are shorts and tees. Of course, I want to glam ’em up a bit, so adding some summer pink and statement pieces definitely make plain ‘ol cutoffs and tees a bit more interesting.
On a side note… I’m over the red highlights and had been debating another change! Stay tuned to see what I decided.
Ps… A loves to pop into my photo shoots, and I can’t say no!

So I’m totally, completely, utterly in love with the overall. Call me crazy! What’s that saying… ‘All fashion trends eventually come back around again?’ Or something like that. I definitely feel I could be rockin’ this trend this summer… What do y’all think? Yay or Nay?

New Year’s Eve Chic

Happy New Year, lovelies! I’ve actually had this post ready to go, but I’ve been a bit under the weather and well, posting has been on the back burner.

For New Year’s Eve, I decided to drop my casual day look, and go a little more chic for the evening. Since we were at the beach and staying in, I didn’t want to get too crazy, so I pulled some stuff from the back of my closet. I rarely get a chance to celebrate New Year’s eve in style with a toddler in tow and because of the hubs’ job {he’s usually working}, so I thought I’d live it up a little while I had the chance.

New Year’s Eve Chic

Houndstooth and Leopard Print Mixing

There’s just something about patterns and prints, and mixing them. It’s such a trend now that no one hardly even bats an eye, so I say the bolder, the better {and I got a ton of compliments on this mix}. I’ve been living in black jeans, so I went for a pop of bright color under a houndstooth scarf and mixed in a hint of leopard. Who doesn’t love leopard? And it’s always a perfect combo with brights. The houndstooth made the look a bold mix of print and pattern. And because I love an outfit with function, it held up well while carting A off to dance in the morning, managing a meltdown, running errands, and then a birthday celebration with some of my dearest girlfriends in the evening. This outfit got an A+ for transitioning perfectly from day to evening.
