Blackout… in the Rain!

I love the rain, almost as much as I love the leaves turning brown and sweaters and jeans.
In so Cal, we’ve been rather unlucky with the rain, and drought conditions have us all longing for more any. When we finally got some last week, my style kick and I dusted off our rain boots and went puddle stomping between errands and appointments. She ditched hers shortly after the rain stopped, but me? I wore them. ALL DAY. for errands and even a style appointment…  Hey, when a girl gets a chance to bust out rain boots in an area that rarely sees rain, she does!

The wind and weather even made it comfortable for a coat! You bet I got all excited about fall, only to have it dangled in front of me for 3 glorious days… and then, just like that, it was over :(.

Style Note: Don’t be afraid to dress up your rain boots. You can pair them with a dress and coat for a super chic office look. The secret? Keep it neutral and add bits of interest, like a leather dress, stripes, or an awesome piece or two of statement jewelry. You’re look will remain professional and functional.

Spring Leaves

Hey dolls, happy Friday! I’m betting many of you are excited for Valentine’s day, with big plans. The hubs and I are doing a wine and paint tonight and hitting a little Argentinian restaurant for dinner… mmm!
Today’s post, though isn’t the obligatory Vday outfit post, but if you do want some Vday inspo, feel free to check out my fashion app for some traditional and not so traditional inspo!

Ok, so on with it! I’m giddy when the bug wants to dress up and join me for a shoot… and picks out her own outfit to ‘be fancy and match you, momma’! It’s always a treat to see what she’s come up with. 😉
What wasn’t captured was her sweet little self running up to me with a ‘flower for your pictures.’ I’m pretty smitten with her and think she’s the best thing ever, even if I am biased!
As for this dress? I feel like it’s so timeless. The puffed sleeves are so classic, the flow of the skirt makes it easy for most body shapes to carry, and though the leaves give me a great fall feeling, I definitely think the bright colors work just as well for spring; making a perfect transitional piece between seasons.

I’ll be honest, I really had this dress in mind paired with booties and a leather jacket, but when I wore it, the temps were waaaay too warm for that, so… you might see this again in the future for a ‘wear 2 ways post’ ;).
Anyhow, this dress was such a find in my favorite local vintage shop… and when I put it on at home, I was elated to find another gem: POCKETS! SWOON. I’m such a sucker for a dress/skirt with pockets.

Style Note: Creating a timeless classic look is in the smallest details: Choose a piece that flatters, is not too flashy, and you can wear effortlessly without seeming as if the piece is wearing you.

Talking Spring Trends: Westside Pavilion Collaboration & Youtube Video

Spring is here! And it’s a great time to step out of the box and try new trends. As a stylist buying for clients, as well as myself, I’m also concerned about having basic essentials no matter what season I’m purchasing for. But don’t be afraid to mix your basics and try out the trends you like.
Recently, I worked with Westside Pavilion in L.A. to create a spring trend collection for their youtube channel. I chose 3 top trends for spring, threw in some basic must-haves and put a bit of my own twist on them to keep them unique and interesting. So have a look at the video below…
