Well, it’s been real.
A little over a month ago my grandmother {on my mom’s side} passed away, and exactly 1 month later my mom’s brother passed.
This past weekend we attended our dear friends wedding, a beautiful ceremony for two people we love dearly.
So I feel like I’ve been living in this roller coaster of emotions… happy, sad.
I chose a brightly colored dress for the wedding for a couple of reasons… 1) it’s still so ridiculously hot in California. I couldn’t even escape it up north, so summer colors for the win! and 2) I don’t usually do this color, so it was such a welcomed change.
Friday’s service for my uncle really had me thinking. I’d just seen him at my grandmother’s service and later that afternoon shared a lovely meal with him. Then, gone. I was thinking back and the last thing I remember was squeezing him tightly and telling him I loved him. I am so glad because sometimes I know we all get busy, hectic schedules, kids, family, lives… and I know I take for granted the next time will come around…
Please hug those you love every chance you get.
Excuse me if I’m feeling like the ratio of happy to sad is a bit out of balance. Life is really put into perspective sometimes… I cherish all the memories these days.
Hope your weekend has been full! xoxo

Outfitted

When outfitting myself for any fashion styling job, I like to maintain a little style {seeing as styling is my job}, but I also need function {read: comfort}!
This skirt is the perfect blend of summer + stripes + comfort to keep me outfitted for a client shop. Since I love to shop, my ‘amor’ tee pairs perfectly. If you’re thinking you’ve seen these pieces before, you’re not having déj à vu. This skirt is one of my summer staples and this is hands down one of my favorite graphic tees {as if any graphic tee is not my fav!} Hope you lovelies are having a wonderful short week.
On a side note, I just overhauled a client closet, so I’ll be posting a bunch of ‘finds’ on my instagram shop. You can also shop the flash sale {beginning today at 10am!} for steals before I post a few of my own recent purchases {mostly worn for a day or a photo shoot} that I’ve decided must go.
j. crew amor tee {this is cute} // quicksilver maxi {similar, love this} // f21 bangle set // ralph lauren bangles via nordstrom // h&m statement necklace

Drop Waist Midi Shift

drop waist midi: been in the closet awhile {love this shorter shift // color block heels {similar} // lips: Mac’s ‘Lust’ Lipgloss // bracelets: F21, Ralph Lauren // watch: gift

I’ve actually had this dress in the back of my closet for a few years now. I certainly wore it out a few times brand new in spring/summer, but I thought I’d try it out as a fall transition piece.

If you know me, you know I like to make my wardrobe stretch… through seasons and wears (paired different ways for different looks). I definitely purchase pieces that can remain a staple in my closet for those ‘what can I reinvent with my wardrobe’ moments.

The drop waist dress is pretty popular, though in shorter knee length versions, but the mid calf length is so perfect for dressing up or down.
