Summer in December

It seems almost ridiculous to post this when the weather is back under 65, but this was a stereotypical southern California day… nearly 80, the day felt much like summer, and there was nothing to do but embrace it. Going from low 50s to nearly 80 (and then back to raining and under 50 just two days later) was… shocking especially when all I want to do is wear cute sweaters, jeans or leggings, and boots with all my cute boot socks, but when in Rome…
I’ve said it a million times, but I love pieces that get wear across my wardrobe and this luxe sweatshirt (seen here) is no exception.

sweatshirt: Windsor {sold out similar, loving this}
denim shorts: F21 {similar}
shoes: DSW {similar}

The Boyfriend…

…and lace.

 jeans: Hudson (sale!) // sweater: Target (similar, similar) // glasses: Marc Jacobs // bag  // shoes (similar)

One of my favorite street style trends are boyfriend jeans. I could live in mine.

It’s not quite fall here (temps are soaring in the hight 90s and even triple digits), but I’m so ready. Last week, I had shopping and errands so I grabbed out a fancy sweater with a lace back to at least let me think fall is on the horizon.

It’s one of the lightest I own. Loose, warm enough for cooler nights, but light enough for hot days, it pairs so well with boyfriend jeans and it was a steal from Tarjay!

A Printed Tee and Pattern + a Cocktail Recipe

tee: F21 // shorts: Anthro (similarsimilar) // peep toe booties: (save, similar splurge) // bag: miche // bracelets: J.CrewF21, Macy’s (similar) // necklace: Target (loving this one) // nails: Elle in a fog // lips: Stila in fruit puch
Oh fall. If only the California weather would cooperate, I wouldn’t have to pretend. Like sneaking in peep toe booties.
It’s no secret I love these patterned shorts for dressing up (herehere), but they were super cool to dress down, too.
Pairing patterned shorts with a Beetles print tee and leather peep toe booties made me feel a little rocker chic.
And I’ve got to say, that miche bag that was given to me as a gift years ago has really pulled it’s weight around here.
The fam and I will be camping in the mountains for the next week, so I’m hoping to live in some comfy jeans and sweaters like fall is actually on it’s way. Maybe we’ll return to cooler weather and I can make better use of those peep toes? Fingers crossed.
Let It Be from the book Drinks Inspired by The Beatles
– Fill half the glass with champagne or sparkling wine.
– Fill the other half of the glass with mango juice.
– Garnish with a maraschino cherry inside.
Helpful note: Keeping your champagne or sparkling wine at a cool 45 to 48 degrees F will ensure perfect serving temperature.

Bright Florals

dress: old (save, splurge) // sandals // glasses: Marc Jacobs // bracelets // necklace: Brina Box // lips: Dior

I wore this gorgeous floral dress last weekend along with my brand new Brina Box necklace that I absolutely adore.

Though my heart’s set on fall as August draws on, temps here in so. Cal are still pretty treacherous; were talkin’ nearly 90 degrees at 5 p.m. A birthday party in the park with those kinds of temperatures meant I had to think up something cute AND cool. You can’t go wrong with bright florals!

Amélia looked adorable in her pretty dress… before she insisted on changing 3 times!

Thanks for stopping by!

Day to Evening with Color Blocking

I’m back sportin’ some neon as so. Cal temps jumped from high 80s to just about 100º+ every day.
What I love so much about neon is it’s ability to color block well and transition from day to evening.

 This is one of those outfits I just adore everything about. I can throw it on to take the toddler to dance, go shopping in (comfortably, yet fashionably), and to grab a quick lunch with the hubs.

Of course, the gold heeled Zara shoes are in a class of their own. Super fun, these Zara’s lent well to the color blocking idea; keeping it subtle. Not to mention they are one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes I own!

 With a few easy swaps, this outfit takes me through the day and right in to girl’s night out or date night with hubs.

 Make-up: Turn up the volume. I simply switched my daytime nude shade of lipstick to a bold red, freshened my liner and applied a little more voluminous mascara to really make my eyes pop. I swept on a little more blush than I’d wear daily, tossed my leopard bag aside for a small leopard clutch and… Voila!

blouse: F21 // jeans: Old Navy // shoes: Zara // bags: miche & clutch (similar) // bangles: J. Crew, F21, Tiffany & Co. // necklaces: F21, Target (craving Ily Couture‘s) // lips: Dior in nude & YSL 001 Le Rouge // Glasses: Marc Jacobs
