Style Note:  Keep in mind that though casual attire is perfect for most concert venues, your clothing should reflect your personality, the band your seeing, and should be well kept: yes, that’s code for clean ;).

Ok, so I’d love for you guys to weigh in here: I think the unspoken rule {or spoken, if you go searching on the net} is never to wear the t-shirt of the band you’re seeing. What do y’ all think?

Man Mode: Suit Jackets, Blazers, & Sport Coats, Oh My!

Hey there, m’dears! There’s been some changes and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for following and sticking around.
So let’s get back to Man Mode for a minute.
I’m breaking down the difference between suit jackets, sport coats and blazers, and quickly covering how to wear them, especially with jeans. I think that’s what most of you are concerned with.
Without getting into an in depth history, I’m breaking down the difference and pairing ’em up with bottoms below…
Suit Jackets- as their name implies, they are worn with suits. I think y’all know they should only be worn with matching suit trousers so then, the question is really how do they differ from sport coats and blazers? The ‘simple’ formula for spotting suit jackets is to look for smooth fabrics and generally tonal {matching hue} buttons. This is the dressiest of the three, and is usually accompanied by matching pants. Never wear with anything other than suit pants. Of course, I say ‘simple’ but there are always exceptions ;).
Now, it gets trickier distinguishing between blazers and sport coats.
Blazers- are typically dressier than sport coats, yet not as formal as suit jackets. A simple trick to spotting a blazer is it’s navy blue color and contrasting buttons, or the distinct silver or gold buttons. Yet, this is not always the case. Confused? I hear ya. Hang on a minute and I’ll simplify it all…
Sport Coats- are frequently patterned and often more eye-catching. In relation to suit jackets and blazers, they’re fabric is a bit sturdier. Mostly, think in terms of a rough fabric one would wear while doing sporting activities like fox hunting! Since I’m not getting into a history lesson, the idea is a less structured, casual jacket and the image of a man holding a duck and a gun, stepping out of the woods, HA! Many designers use the terms ‘blazers’ and ‘sport coats’ interchangeably.
Throughly confused? There are always exceptions to the rules, thus you have fashion!
The hard and fast rules are as follows: a suit jacket is a suit jacket. It usually comes with matching pants and should only be worn with matching pants. Without matching pants, structure, or navy color with distinct silver or gold buttons {which defines a blazer}, the terms blazer and sport coat are often used interchangeably and can be paired with denim so long as you take care to compliment colors and fabrics. Still lost? Don’t be shy: I’ll help you with your personal style and we can do it all through Skype, if you prefer!
Style Note: A blazer or sport coat can add a bit of sharpness to even denim. For a classy look, take a chino or khaki, add a polo and toss on a blazer or sport coat without being too dressy.
